"I've read other topic and every1 hate food system. Let's have a look at the comments on the demo: I've never downvoted a game either and never will, but you better be aware that your creative idea with food could lead to one or two negative reviews (not by me), which could lead to one or two people not buying the game. (Although supposedly Ubisoft is working on a new Heroes). So I'll probably buy the game, as there aren't many alternatives in the genre. We realised quite early on that the food system was quite punishing, so we made efforts to make food more generous so that it wasn't so restrictive - but was still in place to prevent abuse of the turn bonuses. I'm still collecting my own thoughts in a text file, but I think I'll wait a bit with writing it all here in forum, since with every mission I seem to come up with another idea/dump old ideas since the issues get fixed or I'm getting used to the game. my guess with the resources is that they are meant to be a bit "redundant" in case of more time-sensitive missions, so that you don't have to pick every-single-nugget to be able to afford upgrading your army "Disciples" series has got a single creature/multiple upgrades system I really like these games and I'm glad to see another one taking similar approach, since it nicely fits the game mechanics (starting each mission almost from point zero) I agree visual upgrades would be most welcome, but I guess these will come later in the development - for now we're checking mostly the playability/balance So you don't have endless time to just wander around and have to balance between what you want and what you can do (same like every time-sensitive mission, though this element doesn't make you lose instantly). Well, I'm afraid the food system is part of the challenge/rougelite element - I don't like it too (I don't like rougelikes/lites in general, but that just gives me a push to get every mission 100% at the first try xD ), but that's what sometimes make you move your butt faster and carefully plan your actions.
